Distribution of Funds of Satabank plc

The Malta Financial Services Authority would like to inform the public that on 18 September 2025, it issued a Deposit Liability Transfer Instrument following the fulfilment of the conditions outlined in Article 11(1) of the Residual Balances Fund Act (Chapter 618 of the Laws of Malta) (“Act”) in relation to Satabank plc (“Sata”).

Over EUR 30,000

In terms of this Deposit Liability Transfer Instrument, Sata was required to transfer to the Residual Balances Fund, all liabilities due to depositors who hold:

  1. account(s) with an aggregate balance exceeding EUR 30,000; and
  2. account(s) in respect of which there exists a legal impediment to effect payment to accountholders, regardless of the balance of such accounts.

In terms of this Deposit Liability Transfer Instrument, any corresponding assets shall also be transferred to the Residual Balances Fund, in accordance with the provisions of the Act. Any communication with the Residual Balances Fund Committee should be made on

Distribution of funds relating to accounts held by depositors which have an aggregate balance of not more than EUR 30,000 and in respect of which no legal impediment currently exists will be processed by the Controller of Sata, Dr Richard Galea Debono who can be contacted on
