Clara Sammut – Senior Manager, Banking Supervision, MFSA

Clara joined the MFSA in August 2015 as an Analyst within Banking Supervision and today holds the role of Senior Manager within the same function. Working within the on-site inspection team, she occasionally collaborates with members of other National Competent Authorities to reach a common outcome. We chatted with Clara about how she prides herself in the work that she does, the need to keep abreast of the changes in the industry and why she chose the MFSA as her workplace.

Why did you choose the MFSA as your workplace?

Working at the MFSA instils a sense of pride. I wanted to be part of the team contributing to the overall financial soundness of the financial sector.

What is the best piece of advice that you’ve received that has helped you in your career?

I was once told the secret of TEAM – Together Everyone Achieves More. I am a firm believer of working together towards a common goal and valuing the positive, yet diverse, traits of team members.

What would be your advice to graduates just starting out their career in financial services?

My advice would be to have a constant need to learn and a thirst for knowledge. Learning does not stop once we leave our lecture room desks but continues throughout our life. Work within the financial services industry is dynamic and we need to keep abreast with the frequent changes in regulation.
