Memorandum of Understanding with the Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority

The Malta Financial Services Authority is pleased to announce that it has successfully concluded and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority. The MoU establishes a framework for assistance, the sharing of supervisory information and cross-border co-operation in matters related to the supervision and regulation of banking, financial and insurance-related activities to the extent permitted by the laws and regulations in force in Malta and Qatar. The agreement was signed by Prof. Joe V. Bannister, Chairman of the MFSA, and Mr Michael Ryan, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority.

The Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority was established in 2005 under the Qatar Financial Centre Law. It is responsible for the regulation, licensing and supervision of banking, financial and insurance related businesses that conduct regulated activities in or from the Qatar Financial Centre.
