Editorial Board Responsibilities
Editorial Oversight: The Editorial Board, chaired by the Managing Editor (Editorial Strategy), is responsible for maintaining the academic quality, coherence, and integrity of the journal’s content. The Editorial Board conducts the editorial review stage prior to peer review, ensuring that manuscripts meet JFSA’s scholarly standards for structure, clarity, referencing, and thematic relevance.
The Editor-in-Chief retains final authority over all publication decisions through the Management Board.
Strategic Advisory Board Responsibilities
Strategic Oversight: The Strategic Advisory Board, chaired by the Managing Editor (Strategy & Outreach), provides high-level guidance on the Journal’s long-term positioning, visibility, and partnerships. Its members offer insights on regulatory, supervisory, and academic developments and advise on opportunities to enhance the Journal’s strategic impact.
Strategic Advisory Board members do not participate in the editorial or peer review process.
Management Board Responsibilities
Publication and Governance Oversight: The Management Board, chaired by the Editor-in-Chief, oversees the Journal’s strategic direction and final publication decisions. It reviews manuscripts following the completion of both editorial and peer review stages and considers the recommendations of the Managing Editors before approving articles for publication. The Board is responsible for defining thematic direction, reviewing institutional partnerships and outreach efforts, and ensuring alignment between the Journal and the broader objectives of the Financial Supervisors Academy.
JFSA Coordination Team Responsibilities
Operational Oversight: The Coordination Team, composed of the Editor-in-Chief, Managing Editor (Editorial Strategy), Managing Editor (Strategy & Outreach), Assistant Journal Coordinator, and Communications & Design Lead, is responsible for the operational management of the journal. This includes coordination of the editorial workflow, author communication, peer review administration, publication production, and dissemination activities.
The Coordination Team also supports annual reviews of the Journal’s guidelines and ensures that all governance procedures and publication standards are consistently followed throughout the editorial cycle.
Peer Review Advisory Board Responsibilities
Peer Review Oversight: The Peer Review Advisory Board conducts the double-blind peer review process after the editorial review stage has been completed. Its members independently assess submissions for originality, methodological soundness, scholarly contribution, and relevance to the journal’s scope. Reviewers provide detailed, anonymised evaluations to the Coordination Team for consideration by the Managing Editor (Editorial Strategy) and the Management Board.
Peer Review Advisory Board members are required to maintain strict confidentiality throughout and after the review process.
Submission & Editorial Guidelines
Manuscript Submission
Authors are invited to submit manuscripts via email to [email protected]. A submission button on the JFSA website will redirect users to this email address for convenience.
Submissions must:

- Adhere to the OSCOLA referencing style.
- Include a manuscript between 2,500 and 10,000 words.
- Be submitted in .doc, .docx, or .pdf

Editorial Process
Upon submission, the manuscript and accompanying proposal will be reviewed and acknowledged by the JFSA Coordination Team.
If deemed suitable for review, the manuscript will be forwarded to the appropriate Deputy-Editor-in-Chief. Upon approval of the soundness and relevancy of the manuscript, it is passed onto the Editorial Board chaired by the Managing Editor (Editorial Strategy), for detailed assessment. Upon consensus, authors will be notified of their manuscript’s selection, and the editorial process will commence.
Once the Editorial Board completes its review, the Managing Editor (Editorial Strategy) and/or the Journal Assistant Coordinator will consolidate and share editorial notes with the author. These notes may include:
- Requests for clarification or elaboration.
- Corrections of inaccuracies or inconsistencies.
- Requests for additional references where needed to support accuracy or strengthen the argument.
The Editorial Board will assess each manuscript for plagiarism using appropriate detection tools. Each case will be evaluated individually, considering the article type and disciplinary norms. The Editorial Board reserves the right to reject submissions based on plagiarism reports and editorial assessment. Authors may be required to revise, paraphrase, or properly cite affected sections. Rejection decisions will be accompanied by a justification.
Peer Review Stage (Double-Blind)
Following satisfactory completion of the editorial review, submissions are forwarded to the Peer Review Advisory Board for double-blind peer review.
Peer reviewers independently assess:
- originality,
- methodological soundness,
- scholarly contribution, and
- relevance to the Journal’s scope.
Structured reviewer feedback will be communicated to the author through the Coordination Team.
Final Approval
Once revisions are completed, manuscripts undergo a final editorial check and are submitted to the Management Board, chaired by the Editor-in-Chief, for publication approval.
Only after Management Board approval does the manuscript proceed to publication.
