The Malta Financial Services Authority (“MFSA” or “the Authority”) has become aware that Rimeco SA is falsely promoting the Virgo Fund (which has since changed its name to KIF Trade Fund), a sub-fund of Key Investment Finance SICAV plc (“the Scheme”). The Scheme forms part of the list of Notified Alternative Investment Funds maintained by the MFSA in terms of the Investment Services Act and is managed by Framont & Partners Management Ltd (“Framont”).
The MFSA would like to inform the public that Rimeco SA is attempting to lure persons into investing their funds in the Virgo Fund by claiming that it has links to Framont. The MFSA wishes to clarify that Rimeco SA does not presently have any links to Framont or to the Scheme.
The MFSA is also aware of a LinkedIn page titled “Virgo Fund”, which directs users to Framont’s website, notwithstanding the absence of any links between Rimeco SA and Framont. This may create the false impression that Rimeco SA is authorised by the MFSA or otherwise connected to Framont or the Scheme.
The public should therefore refrain from entering into any transactions or otherwise dealing with Rimeco SA in relation to the Virgo Fund, or on any matters falling within the parameters of the Investment Services Act.
The MFSA reminds consumers of financial services not to enter into any financial services transaction unless they have first ascertained that the entity with whom they are dealing is authorised to provide such services by the MFSA or another reputable financial services regulator. A list of entities authorised by the MFSA can be viewed on the MFSA’s official website at https://www.mfsa.mt/financial-services-register/.
If you believe you may have been contacted by Rimeco SA, have been invited to invest in the Virgo Fund through Rimeco SA, or suspect that you may be dealing with an unauthorised entity, you should stop all transactions immediately and contact the MFSA at https://www.mfsa.mt/about-us/contact/ as soon as possible.
