The Malta Financial Services Authority (“MFSA” or “the Authority”) has recently become aware of an individual purporting to represent Malta Capital Management Limited (C 51149), who has been approaching individuals and companies with investment opportunities. Malta Capital Management Limited had an internet presence at: www.maltacapital-mgmt.com (which website has been taken down and up to the publication of this Notice is no longer accessible).
The MFSA wishes to alert the public that while Malta Capital Management Limited was previously licensed by the Authority, its Investment Services license was cancelled on regulatory grounds on 11 June 2020 (link to Decision Notice: Malta Capital Management Limited). Accordingly, since that date, Malta Capital Management Limited has not been authorised by the MFSA to provide any financial or investment services.
The MFSA urges the public to exercise caution when approached by anyone claiming to represent Malta Capital Management Limited, particularly in relation to investment offers or the solicitation of funds. The Authority advises consumers of financial services to exercise extra caution and to not entertain any financial transactions unless:
- You ascertained and verify the identity of the sender and its legitimacy, and
- That such sender is duly authorised to provide such services by the MFSA or any other legitimate financial services regulator.
A list of MFSA licensed entities is available and can be viewed on the official website of the MFSA at https://www.mfsa.mt/financial-services-register/. If you are a victim of a scam or think you might be dealing with an unauthorized entity or any other type of financial scam, first of all stop all transactions with the company and contact the MFSA at https://www.mfsa.mt/about-us/contact/ as soon as a suspicion arises.
