Anthony Eddington – Head, Financial Crime Compliance
Anthony Eddington is Head of Financial Crime Compliance, responsible for the oversight of AML/CFT compliance within all MFSA licensed credit and financial institutions operating in and from Malta.
Anthony joined the MFSA in March 2020 having served in various senior roles in Financial Crime Compliance for key financial institutions and also held a senior regulatory role within the UK’s Financial Services Authority Enforcement division. Anthony was most recently responsible for anti-financial crime within the Markets division at Deutsche Bank and within Commercial Banking in HSBC in the UK. Focusing on trade finance, he also helped implement a trade based money laundering programme within Deutsche Bank.
In a career that spans over 20 years, he has held positions in Scotland Yard as a Detective, has worked in the Caribbean and the Middle East where he led the Global Financial Crime function in a leading bank and held responsibility for the global coordination of anti-financial crime. Anthony ran a number of teams responsible for investigation of financial crime in small, medium and large regulated institutions. He is passionate about the prevention and detection of financial crime and enjoys the daily challenges that it brings.
Anthony is a Chartered member of the Institute for Securities and Investments.
