A current account is a type of bank account that allows you to access and use your balance at any moment. In Malta, it is usually opened if you want to pay for your goods and services by cheque. A bank may also offer the facility of a debit card linked to a current account but it does not happen with all the banks. A current account does not pay interest on any credit balances in your account.
Before you open a current account you should therefore verify the conditions to do so and the features of the same. These conditions form part of a framework contract.
