About Conduct Supervision


Conduct Supervision oversees the way in which regulated entities design their products and services as well as the way in which they manage their relationship with consumers. By setting up a regulatory framework that secures appropriate customer protection, the Function ensures that clients of financial services are treated fairly, honestly, and professionally by regulated entities.

The Financial Promotion and Risk Assessment Team deals with conduct matters on a cross sectoral basis i.e. investments; insurance and banking sectors. The main tasks of the Financial Promotion and Risk Assessment Team focus on data reporting & analysis, ex-post review of marketing materials and review of conduct related disclosures in listing prospectuses and coordination of cross-sectorial financial education campaigns.

The Role


Within this role you will work closely with the Head and Deputy Head of Conduct Supervision and will lead and coordinate a team. The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Manager will be as follows:

  • Create a risk-based review of Financial Promotions of applicable Regulated Persons in the securities [including UCITS Management Companies], insurance and banking sectors;
  • Implement the above-referred risk-based methodology for the review of cross-sectorial Financial Promotions and action any uncompliant marketing material;
  • Coordinate the collation of Conduct Related Data on a cross-sectorial level (Banking, Insurance & Investments) and subsequently raise internal reports outlining the industry trends and flagging main risk areas for the consideration by the supervisory teams;
  • Coordinate and provide input to cross-sectorial Financial Education initiatives as launched by MFSA;
  • Ensure that consumer targeted disclosures for example in listing prospectuses are fair, clear and not misleading;
  • Mentor team members in the carrying out of their respective duties and in any delegated tasks;
  • Represent the MFSA in engagement with internal and external stakeholders as necessary, including representation on any Standing Committees/Working Groups (including MFSA internal working groups) and providing the necessary contribution;
  • Take decisions and act on your own in line with delegated authority and escalate issues outside your remit and area of responsibility;
  • Carry out other duties and tasks as may be assigned by the Head or Deputy Head.

About You


We are looking for candidates with solid academic background in financial services, accountancy and/or law or in any related background in relation to the functions related to the post.

The role calls for an academic qualification in a relevant field of study at National Qualification Framework Level 6 or better, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) or a widely recognised professional qualification at a comparable level.

You will also possess a minimum of eight (8) years working experience in the area related to the role. Candidates with longer working experience relevant to the role will be preferred.

Maltese speaking candidates will be preferred.

If you do not have the necessary academic or professional qualifications but you have at least fifteen (15) years of relevant experience, we would still be interested in speaking with you.
