About Data Management and BI


The Data Management and Business Intelligence (BI) function enables timely and effective decision-making across the Authority through more effective data and records management, and the provision of business intelligence reporting to support risk-based supervision. The team is responsible for driving data governance, data quality management and integrity, as well as the data architecture across the whole organisation. As part of its remit, the function is also responsible for managing a centralised data warehouse and BI analytics platform to provide ongoing insights, analyses and operational dashboards for end users.

The Role


  • Support the data architecture strategy to deliver to the data quality objectives set out.
  • Work with cross-functional stakeholders in close collaboration with Programme Management, Technology and Supervisory teams to understand requirements, suggest solutions and translate complex source data into simple data models with guidance from the Senior Data Architect.
  • Adhere to formal data policies and standards to ensure all data solutions are created in line with these principles.
  • Analyse, design and document workflows and data models that support the development of a sound data architecture.
  • To analyse potential root cause for data quality issues, proposing solutions, discussing options and outcomes with relevant data and technical stakeholders.
  • Support peer reviews of systems upgrades, workflows and data flows that are written by other members of the Data Management and Business Intelligence team.
  • Define and maintain metadata, lineage and data dictionary definitions
  • In liaison with other data management colleagues plan and develop the data architecture in support of upcoming features and capabilities on the roadmap
  • Support as may be required from time to time in defining technical data requirements and carrying out testing for systems and strategic platforms.

About You


We are looking for an individual that uses an analytical approach to problem solving, is highly numerate and enjoys working with data. Attention to detail and the ability to work independently is important in this role, as well as the ability to work in a complex and changing environment.

The role calls for an academic qualification in a relevant field of study at National Qualification Framework Level 6 or better, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) or a widely recognised professional qualification at a comparable level.

You will need to have at least three (3) years' working experience in the area related to the role. Candidates with longer working experience relevant to the role will be preferred.

If you do not have the necessary academic or professional qualifications but you have at least seven (7) years of relevant experience within a relevant field, we would still be interested in speaking with you.

Other Requirements:

  • Proficient in database technologies, enterprise data modelling
  • Knowledgeable of the different techniques and standards for delivering high quality data architecture
  • Experience in metadata software management tools e.g. Informatica, Collibra, Talend etc
  • Experience in Enterprise Web Applications as well as Database operations and SQL in a Microsoft stack environment
