About Legal


The Legal Affairs team provides legal advice internally across the organisation on a wide range of matters including enforcement and supervisory matters, as well as matters of an operational nature. It is also involved in the coordination and oversight of the legislative process in so far as laws administered by the MFSA are concerned. Moreover, Legal Affairs attends to any litigation matters and represents the Authority in any action or legal proceedings in which the MFSA is involved or has an interest.

The Role


Through this role, the MFSA encourages law students who are still in their early years of studies at university to take their first steps on their legal journey. While being a support role, this role provides an excellent opportunity for exposure to the legal world and the world of financial services, as well as access to certain MFSA internal training programmes.

  • Providing general administrative support to the Legal Affairs team under the supervision of the team's PA, including data management and filing, creating and maintaining databases and liaising internally with other functions as required;
  • performing ad hoc research and conducting assignments as requested by the supervising lawyer(s);
  • participating in task/project teams with the supervising lawyer(s);
  • preparing and drafting correspondence, reports, notes, statistics, presentations and other documents as required;
  • performing other duties and tasks as may be assigned.

About You


To qualify for this role, you need to be currently reading for a first degree in law (Master of Advocacy level), at NQF Level 6, preferably being in your first or second year of studies.

The following skill set is also a must for this position:

  • a strong command of both Maltese and English (written and spoken);
  • motivated and with a strong desire to learn;
  • resourceful and attentive to detail;
  • ability to multi-task and work on own initiative;
  • ability to work in a team.
