About Securities and Markets Supervision


Securities and Markets Supervision is responsible for overseeing investment services license holders, trading venues, central securities depositaries, recognised private collective investment schemes, etc. The Function is also responsible for the regulation and oversight of activities in capital markets including the processing of applications for admissibility to listing on Regulated Markets and the prevention of financial market abuse.

The Role


As Junior Analyst (Authorisations), you will be entrusted with the below duties and responsibilities:

  • Assessing shareholding structures, business plans, financial projections and governance proposals in relation to entities licensed under the Investment Services Act;
  • Assessing the suitability of Members of the Board and of Key Function Holders;
  • Drafting memoranda to be presented to the relevant decision-making bodies within the MFSA;
  • Communicating effectively and persuasively at the level required to establish effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders;
  • Carrying out other tasks as may be delegated by the Deputy Head and/or Senior Manager.

About You


We are looking for candidates with a solid academic background in law, accountancy or banking and finance or other relevant field of study at National Qualification Framework Level 6 or better, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) or a widely recognised professional qualification at a comparable level.

We are also looking for applicants with the following skills/experience

  • Demonstrate interest in investment management and securities services;
  • Ability to give great attention to detail and be highly conscientious with quality and accuracy of reports raised;
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities as may be necessary;
  • Ability to maintain good working relationships with other team players and with the industry in general;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
