About Office of Chief Officer Supervision


The Office of the Chief Officer Supervision assists the Chief Officer Supervision in the management of the Supervisory Directorate which houses the Banking, Insurance and Pensions, Securities and Markets, Conduct, Financial Crime Compliance, Virtual Financial Assets, Supervisory ICT Risk and Cybersecurity and the Supervisory Quality Assurance Functions.

The Role


As Deputy Head responsible for ESFS and Regulatory Coordination you will be responsible for the following main duties:

  • Collating and analysing relevant documentation issued by the ECB and/or the European Supervisory Authorities, coordinating feedback and forwarding any necessary documentation, information and advice to the MFSA officials;
  • Providing strategic input to the Chief Officer Supervision for the compilation of the necessary dossiers and briefs for ESFS-related meetings;
  • Drawing up briefing and speaking notes as and when required for the Chief Officer Supervision or their delegate/s for meetings at the European Supervisory Authorities and/or the ECB;
  • Taking initiative in building strategic relationships within ESFS Network;
  • Developing a mechanism to track action points and deliverables relating to the ESFS Network;
  • Leading the coordination of work on regulatory matters across the Supervisory Directorate, providing input and advice where necessary;
  • Developing a mechanism to enable the following up on the status of current and outstanding regulatory work to be in a position to provide periodic updates and reports to the Chief Officer Supervision;
  • Supporting the Chief Officer Supervision in their outreach program including external briefings, roundtables and publications;
  • Represent the Chief Officer Supervision in projects and meetings, as delegated;
  • Acting as the main point of reference of the Office of the Chief Officer Supervision with the EU and International Affairs function;
  • Supporting members of the Office of the Chief Officer Supervision, as required;
  • Representing the MFSA in EU and international fora and engage with other competent authorities, as necessary; and
  • Handling any other duties as assigned by the Chief Officer Supervision and/or as may be required by the MFSA from time to time, as required by the exigencies of the Authority.

About You


We are looking for enthusiastic candidates looking to apply their solid academic background in Law, Accountancy, Finance, Business or in any other related qualification which may be considered as relevant to this post. Candidates are expected to have a sound knowledge of the financial services regulatory landscape, experience in managing workstreams or projects, the ability to manage competing priorities and a challenging workload.

You are also expected to be a confident individual who is flexible and dynamic, and have a critical and analytical mindset. Excellent written and spoken communication as well as presentation skills are a must.

The role calls for an academic qualification in a relevant field of study at National Qualification Framework Level 6 or better, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) or a widely recognised professional qualification at a comparable level.

You will also possess a minimum of six (6) years work experience in policy, supervision, financial services legislation and regulation and/or European & ESFS affairs at a senior level.
