About Conduct Supervision


The Conduct Supervision Function within the MFA is responsible for the setting up and implementation of the regulatory framework aiming to secure appropriate consumer protection in operations of licence holders in the financial services industry. The Conduct Function is gradually assuming a cross-sectorial function covering under its remit supervision in conduct of credit institutions, securities, as well as insurance undertakings and intermediaries.

The Role


In this role you will be reporting directly to the Head of the Conduct Supervision Function and your duties will comprise the following:

  1. Lead, manage and mentor a high performing and experienced teams operating in a dynamic sector;
  2. Develop, review and implement a sector strategy that delivers impact and improvements using MFSA’s resources most efficiently;
  3. Contribute actively to the leadership of the department, improving its operations and providing input into the supervisory approach of regulated entities falling within the remit of the Conduct Supervisory Function.
  4. Deliver a strong working relationship with other MFSA departments to support the MFSA’s interests;
  5. Lead the relationship with industry associations and regulated entities being capable of managing relationships with board members and senior management;
  6. Represent the MFSA externally to government, EU bodies and sector representatives;
  7. Deputise for the Head of Conduct Supervision as may be required from time to time
  8. Exercise supervisory judgment in handling cases, challenging regulated entities on consumer protection issues and ensure that such issues are dealt with expeditiously
  9. Assume responsibility for the management and development of direct reports
  10. Undertake any other tasks as delegated by the Head of the Function.

About You


We are looking for candidates with solid academic background in Banking, insurance and/or Investments.

The role calls for an academic qualification in a relevant field of study at National Qualification Framework Level 6 or better, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) or a widely recognised professional qualification at a comparable level.

You will also possess a minimum of six (6) years working in a similar senior role. Candidates with longer working experience relevant to the role will be preferred. If you do not have the necessary academic or professional qualifications but you have at least ten (10) years of relevant experience in a senior level role, we would still be interested in speaking with you.

You will have leadership and management experience which you will use to motivate and develop your team to deliver your strategy and outcomes.

You will also have a track record of managing a complex and demanding set of stakeholders, ideally in a regulatory or policy environment.  Credibility with internal and external stakeholders is key to delivery in this role.
