About Finance

The Finance function oversees and manages the finances of the Authority, supporting the other areas within the Authority in all financial matters, including the preparation of timely management information, revenue collection, payments to suppliers and service providers, payroll and financial and budgetary control. The function also sets, monitors and improves the operation of the MFSA's financial control framework ensuring compliance with established policies and controls. Finance is also responsible for the timely submission of statutorily-required financial information to Parliament.

The Role

Within this role you will be involved in carrying out clerical and accounting duties and assisting other members of the team as required. Your main duties will include:

  • Acting as the point of reference for records management and responsibility of the running of the archiving process for the Finance function
  • Handling general administration duties for the Operations team
  • Performing the necessary duties required in line with the function’s shift to becoming paperless
  • Assistance with the reconciliation of suppliers’ statements
  • Maintenance of staff attendance records
  • Supporting the payroll process as required from time to time
  • Other accounting and administrative duties as may be directed by the Head of Finance from time to time

About You

The chosen candidate is expected to be able to multi-task and meet strict deadlines, be a good communicator, able to work independently and in a team and possess an attention to detail skill.

To qualify for this role you must have at least six (6) Ordinary levels, including English, Maltese, Accounting and Mathematics. Preference will be given to candidates possessing an Advanced level in Accounting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAGE would be considered an asset.

Additionally, proven work experience in a relevant field and/or the intention to further studies in the field of accountancy would be considered an asset.
