About Finance

The Finance function oversees and manages the finances of the Authority, supporting the various other functions within the Authority in all financial matters, including the preparation of timely management information, revenue collection, payments to suppliers and service providers, payroll and financial control and budgetary control. The function also sets, monitors and improves the operation of the MFSA’s financial control framework ensuring compliance with established policies and controls. Finance is also responsible for the timely submission of statutorily-required financial information to Parliament.

The Role

The successful applicant will be involved in carrying out clerical and accounting duties and in assisting staff of the Unit in the performance of their functions. The main duties will include:

  • Maintenance of staff attendance records
  • Supporting the payroll process as required from time to time
  • Handling the process whereby subsistence allowances are disbursed to the Authority’s staff travelling on official MFSA business
  • Posting of transactions on SAGE accounting system
  • Reconciliation of bank accounts and petty cash balances
  • Acting as the IT Users coordinator for Finance
  • Acting as the point of contact for records management and running with the archiving process for the Finance function
  • Handling general administration duties for the Finance function
  • Other accounting and administrative duties as may be directed by the Head of finance from time to time

About You

The chosen candidate is expected to be able to multi-task and meet strict deadlines, be a good communicator, a team player and able to work on own initiative and be alert.

The role calls for a minimum of six (6) Ordinary levels, including English, Maltese and Mathematics. Preference will be given to candidates possessing an ordinary level in Accounting. Also, ECDL certification or an equivalent proof of computer literacy would be considered an asset. 

Additionally, proven work experience in a relevant field and / or the intention to further studies in the field of accountancy would be considered an asset.
