About Financial Stability


The Financial Stability Function is responsible for identifying and assessing risks which have the potential to spread within the financial sector and the real economy (systemic risks). Through its own macroprudential research and analysis of the financial sector, which covers the banking, insurance and securities sectors, the function contributes to the formulation of policies aimed at mitigating identified risk.

The Role


As an analyst within Financial Stability, focusing primarily on the banking sector, you will be responsible for the following job accountabilities: 

  • collecting, processing, benchmarking and analysing data relating to licence holders and undertaking financial modelling used as a basis for drawing up of internal reports;
  • development and maintenance of business intelligence dashboards, visuals and reports;
  • against continuous review of data and information, prepare in house reporting and provide assistance to other team members within the function in relation to other reports when required;
  • contributing to the MFSA’s publications in the area of financial stability;
  • attending and assisting in technical meetings organised within the MFSA as well as at national and European level, and
  • undertaking other tasks/duties, including ad-hoc studies, as directed by line management.

 

About You


We are looking for candidates with strong academic background in statistics, mathematics, finance, economics or other relevant studies at National Qualification Framework Level 6 or better, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) or a widely recognised professional qualification at a comparable level, and 3 years’ experience in a related area. 

Knowledge of advanced data analysis packages such as Python, R and SQL, and business intelligence tools, would be considered as an asset. 

If you do not have the necessary academic or professional qualifications but you have at least seven (7) years of relevant experience in a senior similar role, we would still be interested in speaking with you. 

The selected candidate is expected to be a confident individual who feels at ease working in a multidisciplinary environment, is flexible, proactive, dynamic, has the ability to prioritise tasks, has a critical and analytical mind-set and a high attention to detail even when under time pressure. The individual is also required to demonstrate good research and have excellent oral, written and presentation skills.
